Easy Ham and Potato Casserole for Cozy Family Dinners

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 cup Milk (2% recommended)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese (divided)
  • 4 cups Russet Potatoes (peeled & diced)
  • 2 cups Diced Cooked Ham

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the oven rack in the middle.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine a can of condensed cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of milk, and 1 cup of sour cream. Add in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and pepper. Stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Add a layer of diced Russet potatoes in a single, even layer at the bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Then, sprinkle the diced cooked ham evenly over the potatoes.
  4. Pour the creamy sauce mixture over the potatoes and ham. Use a spatula to gently stir the ingredients to ensure even coating.
  5. Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 45 minutes.
  6. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese on top. Return the casserole to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Let the casserole rest for about 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute cream of mushroom for variety.
  • Use almond or soy milk for a dairy-free option.
  • Greek yogurt can be a healthier substitute for sour cream.
  • Adjust Worcestershire sauce for milder taste.
  • Use fresh minced garlic or finely chopped onion for a fresher flavor.
  • Regular paprika can replace smoked paprika if desired.
  • Yukon Gold potatoes add creaminess.
  • Any cooked meat can replace ham.
